

Janet was born and raised in Alberni along the banks of Rogers Creek between Margaret St. and Victoria Quay. She was the daughter of Don and Ruth Watson and granddaughter of early pioneers, Harry and Janet Hills, who settled in the Alberni Valley in 1885.
Janet loved the Alberni Canal, Mt. Arrowsmith and Sproat Lake. She had a passion for animals, gardening, and travelling the world. She had a long career as a secretary with M&B Somass and Pulp Mills.
Predeceased by 1st husband Ted Ollander, 2nd husband Art Fast, sister Pearl Linton, and niece Norma McDonald.
Survived by Carole (David) Milne, Kathy (Ian) Miller, Tricia Werner, Tracy (Ron) McIntosh, Leah King, Shawn (Tammy) McDonald, Aleta (Ken) Henry, Lisa McDonald, Carla (Gerry) Armstrong, along with two more generations of family who loved her.
Janet recently celebrated her 97th birthday at Fir Park Village where she had resided for the past 2½ years. Her family greatly appreciates the excellent care she received by their caring staff.
