Predeceased by his grandson, Tyler “Smiley” Jacobsen; his mother and father, Mary and John Binns. Survived by his loving wife of 53 ½ years Elsie , his daughters, Valerie Jacobsen (Glen) and Donna Binns (Doug); his beautiful grand-daughter Payton Jacobsen (Corbin); his sister Beverly Dawson (John) and lots of extended family and friends.
For the past 10 months he battled with ALS - It really brought out his sense of humor and that was clear when he kept threatening to fire Elsie. It was his way of showing he cared. He refused to let it get the better of him and did it the way he wanted, with his feet planted firmly on the ground!
He came from Biggar, Saskatchewan to British Columbia when he was 15. He worked up North for a bit in construction and then started working as a Longshoreman which he continued until he retired.
He is now having a beer with the boys, causing some sort of trouble. We will keep the light charged.
After many years as a Longshoreman, he enjoyed a quiet retirement doing his one favorite passion, Puttering in the garden with his beef tomatoes and walla walla onions. “We will feed the squirrel and let him bury his stash in your garden”.
There were trips to Cuba with family and friends and summers spent right on his own dock ‘living the dream’.
“We miss you already and we can hear that big, booming laugh and your voice telling us what to do and how to do it”.
We will miss your endless knowledge and being able to ask you for the weather report. I am thankful to have had the time to say it all and to have seen you see me find happiness. I will think of you every time I see a cross word and when I see a shooting star. Love you Dad xo
“I will miss you more then you know - I love you forever lover.... Elsie xxo
Big hugs to my sisters Thea & Eileen, for them always being there when I needed”. Thanks to Gordie, Darryl & Gary for keeping the yard looking great for Benny.
