OBITUARY

John Hubert White

August 31, 1941September 28, 2020

It is with great sadness and regret that we announce the passing of our beloved brother on September 28, 2020 when he unfortunately passed away in his sleep.

Predeceased by his parents and two baby siblings and many uncles and aunts, he is survived by his two loving brothers Lawrence White (June) and Ken White (Sue); three sisters: Jennifer, Eleanor (Dan), and April (Rick). He was uncle, great-uncle and great-great uncle to many nieces and nephews. He loved walking; and took his final walk to Heaven. We would like to thank Community Living staff for their kindness and consideration in caring for our brother John.

No services will be held due to COVID-19; a family gathering will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Diabetes Association, 360-1385 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V6H 3V9. www.diabetes.ca

I loved my big brother, John. Mostly my Bro!
He moved to Port Alberni in summer 2000 from big city Langley. We did a lot of management to help him become a member of our community. Starting with Community Living, then joining our Royal Canadian Legion Br 55 back in the day. Then he thought he'd like to become a member of the Sunshine Club to learn to dance better, and for awhile the PA Men's Dart League.
He really settled in and made this his home; he enjoyed the Alberni Valley, making a lot of friends and eventually other members of his family moved here as well to be closer to us.
Without driving abilities, he walked everywhere in town, latter years he bought a bus pass. He got to chat it up with the bus drivers then. A lot of people knew him, would see him in his travels, and stop to talk a little. He made the Redford McDonald's his regular coffee stop besides our place, his second home. Steam Punk and the Doughnut Shop were favorites too.
He loved it here! His final years were happy years. I miss him now and will miss him every day for the rest of my life because he was my Big Brother!

I always enjoyed John stopping by my desk for a chat, to show me his latest project or to just share a laugh. He took great pride in being a Legion member and being able to support them. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

We lived away . . . From everything! When sister cut her foot on a broken milk bottle (remember them?) John carried her the three miles to town to get the stitches she so obviously needed. Not a big deal . . . For him it was typical of his caring for his siblings. He was our big brother . . . Always! Goodbye my hero, I will miss your wit, humour, laugh, and most of all your unconditional love.
