During his high school years is where Mary caught his eye. Soon after he joined the American Navy where he learned his electrical trade. It was while stationed on Guam he proposed to Mary via telegram and on leave he returned home to marry Mary then finally returned home to Port Alberni 8 months later to start his family. Ken worked for the next 35 years in the plywood mill where he met many wonderful lifelong friends and retired in 1991. When not working Ken spent many days on the ball field coaching his boys and playing golf and fishing.
