It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Sardar Nazar Singh Sall. Nazar Singh passed into rest peacefully with his loving family by his side in his home town of Port Alberni, BC. Nazar Singh was born in Palahi, Punjab, India March 3rd 1918. He spent his childhood and early adult life among family in India working on family farms in Punjab and Uttar Pardesh. From a very early age Nazar Singh's work ethic, strength, faith and above all family values began to develop, these values would only grow and strengthen as he grew older. Nazar married his soul mate Pritam Kaur Sall(nee Rai) in Lehal, Punjab. Nazar and Pritam immigrated to Canada in the Winter of 1960 to create a better life for their family. After short stays in the Kamloops area, Cowichan Valley, Victoria, and the Lower Mainland, the family settled in Port Alberni where they would make their family home for more than 50 years. In addition to his devotion to the Port Alberni community, Nazar was a very dedicated worker at the Somass Mill in Port Alberni for many years. The powerful family values Nazar had showed not only through the way he raised his family, but in the look in his eyes when he was surrounded by his greatest treasure; family. He taught us to love, communicate, share, and always remember what it means to be a family.
