Paul, fondly known as Toby, was born to Harry and Bonnie Tobin, on July 12th, 1960, in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Paul was a charismatic child growing up. He was always known for being inquisitive and hard working. Soon after graduating from Sydney Academy, Paul received his Civil/Structural Drafting certificate from Nova Scotia Community College, Marconi Campus where he worked for over 30 years as a senior CAD technician with many architectural and engineering firms across Canada.
Paul is survived by his two children, Christopher (Manching), Bonnie Jean (Clayton), his three grandchildren Hudson, Finley, and Bella whom he loved with his whole heart, and his beloved dog, Bailey. He is also survived by his two sisters, Colleen, Karen (Dave), and brother Kevin (Corrine), along with nephews, Stephen, Eric, Adam, Gavin, Sam, Harrison, and niece Ellen. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Bonnie and brother Brian.
Toby had an incredible gift of making people laugh. He was a joker and brought joy into a room wherever he went. Toby looked for the good in everyone. He wore his heart on his sleeve and a smile on his face. Toby would best be described as jolly. He was blessed enough to have friends spanning from coast to coast. He touched the hearts of so many, all of which made a profound impact on him in some way, shape or form. Toby was always up for a good time. Whether it was on land or on water, he made sure everyone had a “wobbly pop” and was ready to have fun. His most recent adventures included off grid boating with his friends in Campbell River. Toby was never one to turn down an adventure on a boat. He was very passionate about boating and motorcycles from a very young age.
Paul held many titles in his life from draftsman to sailing enthusiast, but his most favorite was “Papa.” Paul loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren. They brought him so much joy. Papa Paul always knew how to make them laugh and continually showered them with love and affection. They will greatly miss him but will hold the many memories made with him in their hearts forever.
There will be a celebration of life held for Paul in Canmore, AB. Date and time TBD.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Toby’s memory may be made to The Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program.
Rest in peace Toby. Over and out.
