Petronella 'Nel' Josepha Adriana Roessen Van Adrichem

Preceded in death by parents Anthonius and Petronella Roessen, brothers Joop, Martin, and Piet Roessen, Nel is survived by her husband Ted of 51 years, children Ted (Colleen), Art, Martin (Rhonda) and grandchildren Dustin (Karrmen), Jacob, Sam, Jared, Justin, Courtenay and Zachary.

Nel was born in Holland, and immigrated to Canada with Ted and their boys in 1975, setting in Port Alberni to raise their family. Nel made friends easily with her smile, sense of humour, honesty, straight forward answer and approach, and her willingness to help where the need was. She loved nature and enjoyed watching the birds in their backyard as they enjoyed the waterfall and fish pond. Nel was a founding member of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul and gave a big part of her life to help those in need in the community, even when she was in too much pain to walk.

Nel, Mom, Oma and friend…you will be greatly missed by your loving husband, children, grandchildren and all who knew you.

A heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses in West Coast General Hospital, especially Dr. Feyi.

Following Nel’s wishes, there will be a mass and service at Holy Family/Notre Dame Catholic Church at 4731 Burke Road, Port Alberni, BC at 11:00am, Thursday, June 8, 2017 with Father Stephen Paine officiating. Stories and condolences may be left for the family at www.chapelofmemories.ca.
