Rick was born and grew up in Sherbrooke, Quebec and was raised in East Hatley, Quebec. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in May 1966 and was honourably released in July 1968 at the rank of Private.
Rick met Colleen in Hayden, Ont., in 1974 and it was love at first sight. On July 11, 1977 they had a beautiful son - Gerald Patrick Brooke who, they unfortunately lost to Cystic Fibrosis. The couple moved to Alberta and on July 12, 1978 they were married in Grande Cache, AB.
Rick worked at Smoky River coal and outfitted for Basil Leonard in Grand Cache. From there, they moved to Nanton, AB and worked on the A-7 Ranch. He retired in 2005 from Kawneer (Lethbridge, AB) and moved to Port Alberni where he and Colleen started their retirement.
One of Rick's greatest passions in life were his many nieces and nephews. Graden, Jason and Garon were like his own sons. Rick was the love of Colleen's life.
He will be dearly missed by many family members.
Love you Rick.
