Bob was born on January 28, 1946, to Albert and Joan Tassie in Port Alberni, B.C. As the oldest of nine siblings, Bob grew up in a large, close-knit family and chose to plant his roots firmly in Port Alberni.
On May 12, 1974, Bob married the love of his life, Donna (Stewart) Tassie, and together they built a life and family in the community he cherished.
Bob worked for the Franklin River Division until his retirement in 2004, forming lifelong friends with many of his coworkers. He had a deep love for the outdoors --- whether at work or in his free time, he could often be found fishing, hunting, or camping with family and friends.
In his younger years, Bob played ball with The Challengers. He also had a passion for model railways, spending countless hours building layouts in his basement and traveling around the island to find unique pieces at swap meets and second-hand stores.
In retirement, Bob and Donna discovered a shared love of travel. From cruising to Alaska, to soaking up the sun in Mexico, visiting family in Saskatchewan, or exploring his heritage in Scotland, Bob was always looking forward to the next adventure.
Bob was blessed with six children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. He surrounded himself with a large circle of family and friends, enjoyed good conversation, and loved sharing stories from the past. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Predeceased by his parents, Albert and Joan Tassie; his father-in-law, Wally Stewart; his brothers, Phillip Tassie and John Tassie; and his brother-in-law, Milne Duvall.
A celebration of life will be held at a later day. Invitations will follow.
