In loving Memory
It is with great sadness that we bring the news of Rudy Morson’s passing on February 10, 2021 in Port Alberni, British Columbia. Rudy was a kind, gentle man who was admired by many for his honesty and genuine personality. He was true to himself and travelled his own path, and sometimes the “road not taken”. Rudy’s passing has brought an outpouring of love, kindness and support that reflects the admiration of those who knew and understood him well. He lived by his philosophy; “once a friend always a friend”. May his memory be a blessing to all those who knew him.
Rudy Morson (nee Lurrink) was born in Amsterdam, Holland, and lived most of his life in British Columbia. He remained proud of his Dutch heritage and enjoyed trips to the “Dutch Store” to stock up on some of his favorites; Gouda cheese, Appelstroop and black licorice. Always close to the wilderness and oceans, he was less a man of the city and lived a humble life. He was a self-taught handyman with many talents. His wide-ranging interests led him to work in a variety of fields, including real estate, running his own business, logging and operating a farm. Rudy loved music and was an avid guitar player, singer and harmonicist.
Left to honor Rudy are his loving wife Grace who was his soulmate and endless support, his sons who meant the world to him - Vince (Tracy) and 6 grandchildren, Sophie, Sean, Sam, Charlie, Olivia and Claire Morson; Brad (Cerise); Slade (Maria) and newborn granddaughter Vivian Solobay; and brother Edward, sister Donna (Bill) and nephew and niece Billy and Stephanie Striebe, and Debbie (Jim) and 3 nieces Kira, Natasha and Paige Burnham.
A celebration of remembrance will be held during the warmer months in North Vancouver BC and at a time when Covid restrictions have been lifted. The immediate family will be contacted in due course.
