Verda Marie Bergermann Smood (nee Bergermann)

Predeceased by her husband Ernest John (Ernie) in 2003, she is lovingly remembered by her four children - Carey (Joy), Corinne, Chesley (Heather), and Candice (Jaymes), grandchildren Tyler, Jenna, Cayden and Ella, as well as 11 brothers & sisters, many sisters- & brothers-in law, many nieces & nephews, and many more "fantastic friends".

Born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan to John & Clara, Verda was the middle child of 12 children. Verda had a very strong work ethic and owned & operated Bergies Janitorial for many years, a very successful janitorial company in Port Alberni, B.C.

In her retirement years, Verda enjoyed walking, her involvement in the Catholic Church, and making many friends wherever she went.

A prayer service will be held at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 4731 Burke Rd Port Alberni, B.C. at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 20 2013, followed by a funeral mass at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21 2013 at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church with Father Frank Franz officiating. Cremation will follow.

We would like to extend our deepest heartfelt thanks to all the staff at the Complex Care Unit of Nanaimo Seniors Village, as well as to Dr. Brian Calvin for the compassionate, personal and loving care provided to our dear Mom. Your care kept her comfortable, which in turn brought us solace, and we know she is now at peace singing & dancing in heaven with our Dad.
