It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Wilma Koivisto. Her pride and joy was her family - Knowing Wilma meant you always had a place at the table - just as her grandma before her, "it's just a matter of adding another potato to the pot". Her kindness, wisdom and generosity acted as a stepping stone in many people's lives. She was known for saying, "we don't have a bad apple in the bunch". She was a devoted mother, grandma, nama and friend to many. She was known for her warm spirit and hugs including those in blanket form - she handmade nearly 100 blankets, each one uniquely personalized, a treasured gift for those fortunate enough to receive one.
Wilma began her nursing career in 1958, at West Coast General Hospital. She loved tending to her patients and making mischief with her colleagues. She was an irreplaceable part of our lives and beloved friend to all she knew. She was happiest camping, fishing and hunting with Leo, especially with her family and visiting all the friends they made along the way. It brings us great comfort to know she was at peace having led a long, full and adventurous life with the people she most adored.
An open house memorial will be held in Leo and Wilma's beautiful rhododendron garden in the spring.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Craig, Carrie and Corrie for their love and attention in Mom's final years.
In her famous last words: “Love you, bye”
