Jean Edwards, 85 of Port Charlotte, FL passed away August 6, 2019. She was born September 7, 1933 in Colón, Panamá to Hazel Melise Boyd and Wilfred Melise Sr. Jean graduated from Escuela Justo Arosemena and went on to work for the NYU Medical Center’s Housekeeping Department for over 30 years. Jean was active in La Sociedad Panameña de Port Charlotte, FL, the Pokeno Club and the Spanish American Club of Port Charlotte. She loved to travel, do word searches and puzzle books, was an excellent cook and an avid seamstress. Jean enjoyed singing and dancing, as she loved music and she was known for being the best dressed in the room. Those who knew her best would say she’s warm and selfless, always putting others first, especially family. Jean was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Federico R. Edwards; her son, Luis A. Carter, Sr.; her grandchildren, Tracy, Pamela, Tamika, Luis Jr., Michael, Melanie and Antoinette; great grandchildren, Clarissa, Brielle, Saige, Sydney, Kendall, Gabriella, Jaxon, Demekio Jr., Jonathan, Camille, Brandon, and Sage; and her siblings, Sylvia, Carmen, Rosita, Ruth, Tulia, and Wilfred Jr. Visitation for Jean will take place on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 4pm- 6pm at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home; 2405 Harbor Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL 33952. A Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 11am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church; 2500 Easy St, Port Charlotte, FL 33952 with interment to follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood, FL.
