Aida Luz Martinez, age 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2020 at her home in Port Charlotte surrounded by loved ones. She was born January 20, 1944, in Puerto Rico to Manuel and Rita Garcia. She was one of thirteen children. In 1956 her family moved to Gary, Indiana where she attended and finished 12th grade at Tolleston High school.
It was there in Indiana that she met the love of her life, Juan Enrique Martinez in 1963. In 1965, Aida and Juan were joined in holy matrimony; a marriage that lasted 55 years and remained faithful to their vows “until death do us part”. Together they raised 5 amazing children who she was devoted to. A family founded on the love of Jesus Christ.
Aida retired, after 25 years of faithful service, as a nurse’s aide, from St. Mary's Medical Center in Hobart, Indiana. Aida is survived by her husband Juan Enrique and 3 children: Angelo Martinez (Tammy), Juan “Johnny” Martinez (Maria) and Mercedes “Marcy” Martinez. She is grandmother to 18 beautiful children. She also has several great grandchildren and another on its way. She leaves behind 8 siblings: Olga, Angelica, Yolanda, Emily, Jose, Rosa, Carmen, and Jerry. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Her passing was preceded by her parents: Manuel and Rita Garcia; 4 siblings: Miguel, Esther, Manuel and David, and 2 children Daniel and David.
Aida Luz Martinez Garcia leaves behind an amazing legacy as many testimonials speak of her passion to serve as well as her love for others. Aida loved to read her Bible, praying for and with others, spending time with family, laughing and wearing a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother and friend, always thinking of others first. To know her was to love her. Many lives have been touched by her encouraging words, her generosity, her creative crafts, adventurous nature, her humor and abundant joy. She will be best remembered for her humble spirit, sincere concern and genuine love for all.
She has been a faithful servant and believer in God, and we have peace knowing that she rests in the Father's arms as she receives her reward.
She will truly be missed.
