
Brevard,NC/Punta Gorda, FL - Barbara Ann Safron, 84, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2012 at her residence.
She was born in Indianapolis, IN, to the late Paul and Grace Davis. She was also preceded in death by her son, Gene Safron, and her sisters, Carol Buss and Nancy Kynerd. Mrs. Safron was raised in Miami, FL.
Mrs. Safron was a graduate of the University of Miami, FL where she played clarinet in the marching band. She started the first band at the St. Charles Borremo School in Port Charlotte, FL and she also served as Principal and taught science and math. She was the founder of the Port Charlotte Symphony. Mrs. Safron was very active with the Brevard Music Center. Her passions were marching band and tennis. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard.
Surviving are her husband, Elwood Philip Safron; sons, Philip Paul Safron and wife Maureen H. Safron, and John Elwood Safron and wife Bridgett Ann Safron all of Port Charlotte, FL; sister, Janie Bonner of California; grandchildren, Christopher Safron, Alicia Rebol, John Gray, Kyke Safron, Shawn Safron, and Justin Safron; 3 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, October 6, 2012 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, Punta Gorda, FL.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Peace Lutheran Church, 21500 Gibralter Drive, Port Charlotte, FL 33952
