Barry was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to Arnold and Mary (Karst) McDonald on December 13, 1949. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1967. In 1968, along with his family, he moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he worked as an auto-mechanic. While there, he also volunteered for the EMS Rescue Squad.
In 1985, Barry moved to Port Charlotte, Florida, where he worked as a pressman for Charlotte Printing. Later, he became a partner/owner at Copy Corner Printing in Port Charlotte from where he retired in 2017.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents , Arnold and Mary, both of Port Charlotte and his brother, Harry of Savanah, Georgia.
He is survived by his brother, Garry (Pamela) of Ewing, Missouri and his sister Mary Conway (Joseph) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, 4 nieces and 5 nephews.
