Bobby Jean "BJ" Herlovich

Bobby Jean “BJ” Herlovich, 84, of Preston, Georgia and Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away on November 20, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. He was born on April 24, 1932, in Webster County Georgia, to the late Joseph Herlovich and Laura Addy Herlovich.

Bobby graduated from Webster County High School in Preston. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree, from Georgia Southwestern College in Americus. While attending GSW, he met Francine Wall Middleton and they were married. At his death they had been married for 65 years. Bobby was a veteran of the United States Army and served as a Sargent First Class in the Korean War. When he was released from service he enrolled in the University of Georgia. He attended University of Georgia, Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine and received a Doctorate of Veterinarian Medicine and graduated in 1958. After graduation from Veterinarian College, he founded and owned the Charlotte Animal Hospital in Florida from 1960 to 1977. Bobby then founded and owned the Lemon Bay Animal Hospital in Florida from 1978 – 1997. After retirement, Bobby and Francine spent parts of the year in Webster County, Georgia and in Punta Gorda, Florida.

Bobby is preceded in death by both of his parents; his son, John Herlovich; granddaughter, Tiffany Herlovich; two brothers, Joseph Wesley (Buster) Herlovich and Carlton H. (Shug) Herlovich; and four sisters, Frances Addy Wilson, Helen H. Dukes, Mary H. Worthington, Patsy H. Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Francine Herlovich; his two daughters, Kathryn Davies and Rita (Billy) Thompkins; one brother, William P. (Geraldine) Herlovich; five grandchildren, Kristy Sill, Douglas Davies, Timothy Thompkins, Tonya Thompkins, Mark (Lauren) Huyett; nine great-grandchildren, Kamryn, Kayden and Kyndall Sill, Colton and Taylor Davies, Riley Thompkins, Kaley and Royce Arizmendi, Preston Herlovich and his father Bruce Hamilton; one great-great-granddaughter, McKenzie Underwood; his daughter-in-law, Sharon Herlovich; and several nieces and nephews.

A Visitation Service with family and friends will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, from 6:00 - 7:00 PM, Baldwin Funeral Home, Richland, Georgia.

The Church Service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at 2:00 PM, at the Preston United Methodist Church, in Preston, Georgia.

The Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at 11:00 AM, at the Preston City Cemetery, in Preston, Georgia.

A Visitation Service with family and friends will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, at the Kays - Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda, Florida.

The Church Service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM, in Punta Gorda, Florida, at the First United Methodist Church.
