Breta House Snyder of North Fort Myers, Florida died peacefully on July 9th at age 97 in nearby Port Charlotte where she was recovering from a brief illness. Born on November 17, 1927 in Oneonta, New York to Ida Parks House and Chauncey House, she was the middle child of eleven children.
She married her high school sweetheart Charles “Charlie” Snyder, and in a marriage that lasted six decades she was a devoted mother, a housewife, an avid gardener and an active member of the Baptist Church in Oneonta and Central Square, New York and in North Scituate, Rhode Island.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie and her daughter Sharon.
She is survived by her last living sibling, sister Frances House Elwood, her son Stephen, her granddaughters Madison Bishop and Denise Burke, and Sarah and Benjamin Snyder; and by her four great-grandchildren Damiano and Giancarlo Palasciano, Liliana Burke and McKenzie Costello.
Per her wishes, Breta’s ashes will be buried next to her beloved Charlie at Plains Cemetery in Oneonta. A private service will be held for family and friends later this year.
