Charles Byron Landis , 83, of Venice, formerly of Sandpiper Key in Englewood and retired physician from Lafayette, IN, died peacefully in his home Saturday, June 4, 2011, after several months of declining health.
He was born October 18, 1927 in Dayton, IN to Ruby Day and Charles Russell Landis.
Dr. Landis is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Marqueta Davis; daughters, Beverly of Manhattan Beach, CA, Benita of Exeter , NH and Betty of Evanston, IL; sons , Charles of Indianapolis, IN and Carl of Mishawaka, IN; sisters, Pauline Stark and Ruth McArdle, both of Venice; and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Beth.
During his 19 years in Englewood, Dr. Landis was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church and volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Englewood Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or to a charity of your choice.
