Charles Travers Runkle, 89, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Thursday September 6, 2007 in Port Charlotte. Mr. Runkle was born in Greenville, Ohio July 15, 1918 the only child of Chalmer and Ruth E. Dunn Runkle. Mr. Runkle came to Florida in 1987 from Colorado Springs, CO. He had worked for 45 years in the field of Aviation. Mr. Runkle attended the Congregational Christian Church, Greenville, Ohio; a member of West Milton Lodge 577, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton and Antioch Temple, Dayton, Ohio.
Mr. Runkle was a Navy veteran of WWII and served in the Pacific.
Survivors include his wife, Irene, his sons, Trenton DAnn of Ludlow Falls, Ohio; Marlon Terri of Punta Gorda, FL; his 4 granddaughters, Misty, Ashleigh, Courtney and Christie; 1 great granddaughter, Skye; his two first cousins, Juanita Dunn Rhoades and Pauline Dunn McCullough. Mr. Runkle was preceded in death by his son, Thurlin and two half sisters, Marilyn and Jill and a half brother, David.
Funeral services will be held on Monday September 10, 2007 at 12 Noon at Kays-Ponger Funeral Home Punta Gorda Chapel, 635 E. Marion Ave. Visitation will be held on Monday September 10, 2007 from 11:00 AM until service time at Kays-Ponger Funeral Home Punta Gorda Chapel.
