Charlotte Ann Rice, 73 of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away on December 5, 2007. Charlotte was born on December 26, 1933 in Coon Rapids, Iowa the daughter of Keith and Harriet Jacobson Orris. Charlotte graduated from the East High School in Des Moines, Iowa and then she met a racecar driver named Lewis Rice at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. She has been married to that racecar driver for 58 years. They moved to Punta Gorda in 1969 from Ankeny, Iowa and she worked for over 20 years and retired from St. Joseph Hospital as a patient advocate and dietician. She attended Bingo weekly and she loved her football and stock car racing.
Charlotte is survived by: her husband; Lewis Rice, her son; Scott Rice and wife Nicki, her daughters; Vicki Rice and Becky Jones, her grandchildren; Sarah Weitz, Crissy Jones, Casie Rice, Kayla Rice, Cody Rice and Hunter Pressley, her great grandchildren; Riley and Logan Jackson, her brother; Bill Orris and her adopted daughters; Rita Sgricca and Phyllis Pompey.
There will be a gathering at the Kays Ponger Funeral Home, 635 E. Marion Ave, Punta Gorda from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, December 7, 2007 with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 AM.
