He was born on December 28, 1936 in Sylvania, Georgia and came to Port Charlotte, Florida from New York City in 1989. He was a retired computer operator and was employed by Montgomery Ward Company, for many years before his retirement. Chauncey served in the Army during the 1960 and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his mother, Ethel Mims of Port Charlotte, Florida; his 2 brothers, Cliff MimsKatie of Fayetteville, North Carolina and John Lewis of Atlanta, Georgia, his aunt, Bearetha Anderson of Savannah, Georgia; he is also survived by many cousins.
Visitation Sunday, June 15, 2008 from 5:00 pm. Until 6:00 p.m. at Kays-Ponger and Usselton Funeral Home 2405 Harbor Blvd. Port Charlotte, Florida. Funeral Services Monday, June 16, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Kays-Ponger and Usselton Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Burial will follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Punta Gorda, Florida.
