Christie Jean Gamber, 50, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away March 29, 2010 at her home. She was born March 22, 1960 in Ft Myers, FL and lived most of her life in Punta Gorda. She attended Charlotte High School and worked as a Civil Engineer, retiring due to illness. As a sixth generation Florida Cracker, she enjoyed woods riding, camping, swamp buggies, caring for her horse, Phoenix. As a teen, she competed in barrel races and horse shows and won many ribbons. She enjoyed swimming, track, karate and was quite athletic.
She is survived by her partner of fifteen years, Karen Bailey of Punta Gorda, FL; her children, Jacob "Jake" Gomez of Tampa, FL and Jamie Richard Carroll of Punta Gorda, FL; mother, Mary Jo Gomez of Punta Gorda, FL; brother, Grant Freda Gomez of Punta Gorda, FL; step children, Daniel Tiffany Bailey of Lugoff, SC and Anthony Glenda Bailey of Cape Coral, FL; step-grandchildren, Asia, Bella, Kaitlin, Paige and Shawn; special friend, Joshua Romines, whom she loved like a son.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, April 2, 2010 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in memory of Christie to assist the family.
