Dennis Michael Harvey

Dennis Michael Harvey, age 76, passed away July 31, 2019 in Port Charlotte, FL. He was born December 24, 1942 in Kankakee, IL to Kenneth and Elenora Harvey. Mike Harvey lead a life only some can dream of. He grew up with a large family and in a small town. He grew up to be an amazing man who fell in love with Barbara Lee, married and started a family of his own. He was able to travel the world with the love of his life, own and operate multiple businesses and win countless harness horse races. Years later he became a proud grandfather to many grandbabies who thought the world of him and loved him more than anything. And again years later got another promotion to Great Grandpa. Mike was classically handsome, smooth, and oh so witty. His humor brought a smile to everyone's face. His favorite things included harness horse racing, golfing, bowling, bloody marys, chocolate covered cherries, and spoiling his grandbabies. And of course his favorites... hot dogs, pecan swirlies, and his puppies. Gramps you will be missed by many, we thank you for all the life lessons and love over the years. We love you, you're home with Grandma now. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Elenora Harvey, his wife, Barbara Lee Harvey; and his siblings, David Harvey, Stephen Harvey, and Janet Harvey. He is survived by his children, John and Tanya Harrington; grandchildren, Christopher Thorn, Joey Harvey, Tyler Thorn, Lance Harvey, Samantha Fellows, Lauren Harvey, Alison Harvey, Megan Harvey, and Kyle Harrington; great grandchildren, Bradley Harvey, Hannah Harvey, Owen Harvey, Reef Thorn, Paige Harvey, Koa Thorn, Lyndie Thorn, Jaxon Shirback, and Brody Harvey; his brothers, Mark Harvey, Keith Harvey, and Robert Harvey; and sister, Karen Latimer. A celebration of life will be held at 12pm on August 10, 2019 at Kingsgate Golf Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice in memory of his late wife, Barbara Lee Harvey.
