Don was born on May 10, 1930, in Manchester, Connecticut to Stephen and Evelyn Seiler.
Don moved to Port Charlotte from Woodbridge, Virginia where he retired from the United States Army as a Command Sargent Major. Don continued his career working as a Capital Policeman through the Nixon and Ford Administrations. In 1974 Don moved his family to Port Charlotte and began his next career and ultimately working his way up to Director of Transportation for the Charlotte County School Board.
Don was preceded in death by his mother and father, first wife Angela M, Seiler, a sister Nancy Goslee, Son’s-in-Law Nelson Beavers and Thom Hayward, and Granddaughter Brieana Beavers.
Don is survived by his love and wife of 25 years Sandra Seiler of Port Charlotte, his daughters, Evelyn M. Beavers of Murrells Inlet, NC, Donna L. Hayward of Punta Gorda, FL, Gail (Brian) Mollison of Stafford, VA and his son Donald “DJ” (Cathie) Seiler of Sweetwater, TN, his step children, RJ (Tricia) Leek of Leesburg, FL and Carrie Leek of Port Charlotte, FL, and surviving sisters Joan Eckel of East Hartford, CT, and Mary (Rick) Pinto of South Windsor, CT.
Don is also survived by his grandchildren, Christopher Dent of Murrells Inlet, NC, Karen (BJ) Adkins of Punta Gorda, FL, Thom Hayward of Punta Gorda, FL., Britney Mollison of Virginia Beach, VA, Brian Dashnaw of Orlando, FL, Sarah Seiler of Knoxville, TN, Robbie, Claire and Chloe Leek of Leesburg, FL, and great grandchildren Aliyah and Lily Adkins and Sophie Seiler.
A Memorial Service celebrating Don’s life will be held Thursday April 25, 2019 at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home at 2405 Harbor Blvd in Port Charlotte. Visitation of Family and friends is at 10:00 am with a service celebrating Don’s Life at 11am. Pastor RJ Leek will be officiating. Internment with military honors will be immediately following at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 27200 Jones Loop Road in Punta Gorda, FL.
