Doris Elizabeth Hughes

Doris E. Hughes, 88, of North Port, FL died November 21, 2008. She was born February 8, 1920 in Belfast, Northern Ireland and arrived in the US at age 3. Doris worked as a Loan Officer for the Brookline Saving Bank from 1956 till 1974. She moved to Punta Gorda Isles in 1976 from Brookline, Mass and moved to Bob Cat Trails, North Port in Oct 2004. She traveled extensively at home and abroad. She loved her family, the water, boating, golf, baseball Red Sox!, travel and crafts. She was a member of the PGI Civic Assoc, the Twin Isles Country Club and the Kingsway Country Club.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Robert F. Hughes of North Port, FL; sons, Harry Douglas Cady Rowe of Punta Gorda, FL and Kenneth MacGreggor Elaine Rowe of Westwood, Mass; step-sons, William Walter Judy Hughes and Robert Gordon Hughes, all of North Port, FL; grandchildren, Jon Michelle Rowe, Wendy Josh McDowell, David Deb Rowe and Douglas Rowe, 13 great grandchildren; siblings, Ralph, Stanley, Jack and Norma. She was pre deceased by her parents and her brother, Clifford.

The Visitation will be held from 10:00 am till 12 noon, Monday November 24, 2008 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. The Funeral Service will begin at 12 noon on Monday with the Rev Bob Carlson officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 1144 Veronica Street, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
