Dorothy I. Parker

She was born June 15, 1919, in N.Y., N.Y., the daughter of Peter Charles Claus and Ethel Gordon Rudd.

Dorothy owned the Koffee Kup Restaurant in Villa Park Illinois prior to marrying Charles H. Parker, Sr. on April 12, 1947. They lived in Villa Park until retiring to Englewood Florida in 1968 where they both enjoyed being active in the Eastern Star and Amaranth. In addition to holding several appointments in these organizations, Dorothy was Royal Matron of Amaranth and Worthy Matron of Eastern Star.

Dorothy moved to Ky. 2 ½ years ago to be nearer her daughter and family. She lived at Magnolia Springs East for 1 ½ years, totally enjoying the activities and new friends she made there. An illness caused her to move to Jefferson Place Nursing Home last June where she continued to meet each day with a positive attitude and sense of humor.

Dorothy was preceded in death by Charles, her husband of 54 years, her parents, a sister, Gladys and a brother, �"Bunny”. Dorothy is survived by her son, Charles (Linda), daughter Barbara (Al), 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

A visitation will be held at Lemon Bay Funeral Home, Englewood, from 2-4 p.m. on Thursday April 30. There will be an O.E.S. service at the beginning of this visitation.

A Funeral Service and Christian burial to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held Friday, May 1st, at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Center Road, Venice Fl.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either Hospice or Good Shepherd’s Discretionary Fund.
