

Dorothy (DaLuz) Perry, 88, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away April 9, 2013. She was born July 12, 1924 in New Bedford, MA to Antone and Maria Luisa (Cordeiro) DaLuz. She married her husband John on April 12, 1947 and lived in Fairhaven, MA until 1956 then moved to New Bedford.Dorothy started working at the age of 16 as a seamstress at States Nightware, Bunny Manufacturing, Bonnie Lane Manufacturing and many others. She also worked at Ruby's Bridal Shop and Ann & Hope Dept Store where she was fondly known as "The Windex Lady". She and her husband wintered for many in Opa Locka, FL before settling in Port Charlotte in 1996. She and her husband often summered in St Michael, Azores.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, John J. Perry of Port Charlotte, FL; daughter, Margaret M. (Arnold) Mota of Acushnet, MA and Port Charlotte, FL; granddaughters, Patricia (Frank) Ashley of E. Freetown, MA and Suzanne (Jeffrey) Riley of Dartmouth, MA; great grandchildren, Katherine, Elizabeth, Sarah and Gabrielle Ashley and Erin and Ryan Riley. She was predeceased by her parents, sister, Hilda Bodnar and brother Antone DaLuz Jr
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte at 11:00 Monday April 22, 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in memory of Dorothy be made to Tidewell Hospice at tidewell.org.
