Edsel Morrison

Edsel Morrison, 74, of Punta Gorda, FL died at his South Punta Gorda home on August 29, 2009. He was born Sept 25, 1934 in Opp, AL and raised in a loving Christian home with his parents, Porter and Era Mae Morrison, four brothers, Edward, Edgar, Edmond and Edwin and a sister Robeana. He joined the US Navy on March 26, 1952. He served eight years and was Honorably Discharged on March 26, 1960. He was a Korean War Vet. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 40 years and was a past Master of the Punta Gorda Lodge #115 F&AM. He was a Past Patron for the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #58 in Punta Gorda. He worked with the youth of the Order of the Demolay and the Order of the Rainbow Girls. He came to Punta Gorda in 1959 and opened a business called Charlotte Exterminating, which has remained successful for 50 years. He has held the oldest State Certification Pest Control Operators license in the state of Florida. He was a kind, loving, gentle man who will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Paulette Morrison and their children, Phillip Venus Morrison of Punta Gorda, FL; Victoria Daniel Cordes of King George, VA; David William Morrison of Punta Gorda, FL and Edsel Jacquie Morrison, Jr of Punta Gorda, FL. Three children from a previous marriage, Gina Parker of Cimarron, KS; David Wayne Morrison and Bridget Veal, both of Lake Panasoffkee, FL. He was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings, Edgar Agnes Morrison, Edmond Ann Morrison, Edwin Carrol Morrison and Robeana LJ Adcock. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Morrison, both his parents and his brother Edward Morrison. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was well known and loved by many many more and will be remembered by all. We wish him a safe and peaceful journey.

The Visitation will be from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm, Wednesday September 2, 2009 with a Masonic Service at 6:00 pm at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. The Funeral Service will be 10:00 am, Thursday, September 3, 2009 at the Friendship United Methodist Church, 12275 Paramount Drive, Punta Gorda, FL 33955 with the Rev Michael D.
