
He was born Feb. 10, 1918 in Fremont, Ohio.
Eddie served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He ran Eddie Spieldenner Carpet, Decorating and Toys for many years in Fostoria, Ohio. Eddie then worked as a Realtor in Sandusky, Ohio before settling in Port Charlotte, where he began his life as a broker in real estate. One of the original owners of Gatorz Restaurant, Eddie developed the recipe for their famous chicken wings. Many who met Eddie considered him a friend.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Margaret nee Gonya; children, Lawrence of Port Charlotte, Robert Lien of San Diego, Calif., Richard Bonnie of Albion, Maine, Kathleen Alan Szucs of Amherst, Ohio, Gene Pam of Burlington, Vt., Patrick Karen of Port Charlotte, Michael Sarah of Brooklyn, N.Y., Christopher of Port Charlotte, Maureen Craig Barton of Half Moon Bay, Calif., Vicky nee McNabb of Port Charlotte, and Mark of Port Charlotte; 40 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Eddie was preceded in death by his children, Timothy, who died in 2002, and Theresa, who died at birth.
Visitation hours are from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte. The Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 2500 Easy St., Port Charlotte.
