Ellen M. Christensen, 90, of Punta Gorda, FL, passed peacefully to rest in God's hands on December 11, 2010. She was born January 10, 1920 in Soby, Denmark, the daughter of Theodor and Eline Christensen. She moved to Bellona, NY in 1925 and to Punta Gorda, FL in 1957. Ellen worked as a Nurse's Aide at local hospitals for 30 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Punta Gorda. Ellen brought so much laughter and joy to all that knew her.
She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories; her children, Roger Christensen of Punta Gorda, FL; Bruce Christensen of Cocoa Beach, FL; Bill Christensen of Charlotte Harbor, FL; Mark and Bonnie Christensen of Punta Gorda, FL; Debbie and Burt Newsom of Port Charlotte, FL; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Eilart "Chris" Christensen, and an infant son Carl.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 4pm at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E. Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Ellen to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011Washington, DC 20090-6011.
