
Ellen Elizabeth Clement 86, ( nee, Camp) Passed away on Sunday December 18, 2016, due to a stroke, while residing at South Port Square.
She was born October 10, 1930 in Granville, Ohio. She lived on a farm with her parents along with two brothers and two sisters. After graduating high school she worked as a secretary for Denison University in Granville, Ohio. In November of 1949, she met her future husband, Donald Clement, a student, it was a blind date that resulted in marriage, six months later. They lived on campus, veteran student housing while he completed his degree, via the GI Bill.
After graduation Donald worked for consulting, engineering companies and his work required that she move with her husband to live in six states (NH, OH, NE,CO,CT, and NY) they last moved to Florida after retirement.
In those locations she was active with the local New Comers Club and often became president of the local organization helping new members get established in the community. While living on Eaton’s Neck, Long Island, she served as secretary/treasurer to the board of Fire Commissioners of the local fire department
In 1992 she retired as Assistant Comptroller and Office Manager of Davis Aircraft Products Company., Long Island, New York makers of several products used in Air planes, chiefly Air Plane seat belts that were used by several major airlines. After moving to Punta Gorda, she became active in the establishment of the Burnt Store Meadows Property Owners Association to assume responsibilities previously handled by PGI. She served as secretary when her husband, became president of the association. She enjoyed sewing and created all her wardrobe during her employment years. She also created all the curtaining and drapery for her homes. She enjoyed all the activities of housekeeping, including cooking, preserving, pickling and etc. Her Leisure activities focused mainly on cards primarily Bridge. Her outside activities included gardening as well as the sport of golf. She assisted the YMCA in its Community Bridge program and remained active with that group until recently. She helped organize golf outings and trips to Sebring, Orlando and the World Golf Village.
She is survived by her husband, of 66 years, Donald D. Clement, a son, DR. David L. Clement, daughter in law, DR. Elaine M. Shea and two granddaughters, Kimberlee S. Clement and Kathryn (Kitty)R. Clement. She is also survived by sisters, Dorothy Camp and Kathryn Felumlee as well as a brother, Lawrence Camp
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home 635 E. Marion Avenue. Punta Gorda, Florida. With a reception to follow at the Funeral Home Celebration Hall.
