
Elma K. Cancellieri, 81, of Venice, FL, passed away unexpectedly on March 25, 2015. She was born in Fitchburg, MA on Oct. 13, 1933, the daughter of Charles and Signe (Roone) Kangas. Elma earned her Masters Degree from Fitchburg State College, followed by a 30 year career as a highly regarded English teacher in MA at the junior high and high school levels. She was proud of her Finnish heritage and sang in the choir at both the Finnish and English services at Messiah Lutheran Church in MA. She also enjoyed singing in the chorus at Bay Indies and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of S. W. Florida. She was a loving, caring person who enjoyed doing things for other people.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 39 years, George, her sisters, Agnes Blood and Viola Shank, her sons, David Salomaki, Michael and Kevin Cancellieri; daughters Lynne Jablonski and Karin Martell as well as eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, and a brother, Raymond.
A celebration of Elma’s life will take place at 11:00 A. M. on Monday, April 6th at Lakeside Lutheran Church, 2401 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice, FL 34293.
