Elsie M. Steele, 91, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away March 15, 2008. She was born December 11, 1916 in Oakland, CA to Elsa and William Gareis. Elsie was an active member of the First Christian Church of Pt Charlotte and enjoyed assisting in the nursery. She was the past president twice for the Christian Woman's Fellowship.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen F. Steele, Marge Steele, both of Pt Charlotte, FL; Emilie Hughey of Naples, FL; Alan Kim Steele of Sterling, VA; Phil Steele of Naples, FL; Virginia Jay Word of Rome, GA; Christine Veitengruber and Karl Bonita Steele, both of Pt Charlotte, FL. 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was pre deceased by her husband Lester Steele and her grandson Aaron M. Hughey.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 am, Wednesday March 19, 2008 at the Kays-Ponger Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd, Pt Charlotte, FL with the Rev. Jonathan M. Loerop officiating. Elsie's request was that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made for the benefit of her grandson Brian to the Baddour Center, PO Box 97, Senatobia, MS 38668.
