Frank Fahey, 82, passed away on June 15, 2026, in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Born June 29, 1943, in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, Frank was the second of four sons born to Margaret (Hennessey) and Paul Farrell Fahey. Frank spent his early years in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but returned to Lock Haven following the death of his father in 1954. There he remained until he graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1961.
After graduating, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed for a time in South Korea. Following his military service, he answered a different calling and spent several years as a Carthusian monk. He spent the majority of that time at the Grande Chartreuse Monastery in Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse, France, where he somehow managed to become fluent in French despite it being a mostly silent order. Upon returning to civilian life, he began working at Morgan Guaranty Trust in New York City, first as a security guard and later as a computer programmer and systems analyst. It was there that he met his future wife of 50 years, Grace (Simone). They started their family in Jersey City before moving to North Arlington, New Jersey, then Punta Gorda, Florida, where they spent the last 40 years.
Though mobility issues limited his outings in recent years, Frank enjoyed being in nature, frequently spending time in the outdoors in years past, hiking with his loyal dog, Jack, watching birds and other animals during early morning jaunts.
He was a voracious reader and a lifelong learner. Duty-driven and compassionate, he treated others with respect and was genuinely interested in others’ points of view. His gregarious nature and sharp sense of humor made him a friend to all. He enjoyed live music and lively conversation, and in recent years enjoyed spending time with a group of coffee klatch buddies sharing discussion and debate (and often a little snack) at the local coffee shop.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Grace Fahey; his daughters, Kathleen Fahey and Maureen Pingree; his grandchildren, Charles "Aidan", Aaron, and Ellie Pingree; his brother, Paul Fahey (Rosemarie); and many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret (Hennessey) and Paul Farrell Fahey, and his brothers, James Fahey and Christopher Fahey.
Frank will be remembered for his strength and resilience, kind and thoughtful nature, devotion to his family, and the friendships he cultivated throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
