
Frank Calderone Sr, 62, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away July 21, 2016. He was born May 10, 1954 in Hartford, CT to Sebastiano and Frances Calderone. He moved to Venice in 1976 and spent most of his life there. He was a community guy and committed himself to helping others as a Master of Taekwondo and Hapkido. Frank earned his 6th degree black belt in Taekwondo and in 1977 Frank began teaching Martial arts at the Venice YMCA where he acquired a huge and loyal following of students. From there, he operated a variety of schools including: Hwangs School of Taekwondo (several locations), Island Martial Arts (several locations) and Greg Hit’s Fitness Plus.
Frank taught hundreds of students over the years and brought many to black belt level and above. His students also successfully competed in many martial arts tournaments. Frank didn’t just teach his students how to fight, but instead he taught his students how to live. Later on he began training with Grand Master, Dr. Jung Hwang Park where he studied Hap Ki Do and quickly moved up the ranks.
He spent many years in the electrical field until he became a Licensed Building Contractor launching two successful companies; FCA & Company and FCA Appraisals. After closing his Appraisal business down in 2008 he started a new journey as Director of Acquisitions and Sales in the Investment & Commodities Industry while still keeping FCA & Company active.
His passion was Cooking, Fishing, Family and Living in the Mountains. Most importantly his greatest passion was in the Lord.
He is survived by his children, Summer, Dallon, Carisa & Frank Calderone Jr.; Brothers, Alexander, Anthony, and Santo Calderone; Grandchildren, Baby Shae; Numerous cousins, aunts & uncles. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sebastiano and Frances Calderone.
The family will receive friends for Viewing & Funeral Services from 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM, The service will begin at 2:00 PM on Saturday July 30, 2016 @ Living Hope Church, 881 S River Rd, Englewood, FL 34223
