

Frank Robert Whidden Sr, 68 years old of Port Charlotte, FL passed away January 25, 2025. Frank was born November 12, 1956 in Pahokee, Florida to Robert and Thelma Whidden.
Frank was raised in Punta Gorda, Florida and attended elementary, middle and high school in Charlotte County, and graduated from Charlotte High School in 1975. He lived in Lee, Hendry, Okeechobee, and Highlands County and returned to Charlotte County in 2011 to enjoy his retirement. Following high school Frank worked as a butcher and eventually found his passion as an electrician.
In April 1993, Frank found his career path in the correctional field while holding various leadership positions until he retired in October 2010 with 17 years of service. Frank was a hardworking man as he worked many years holding 2 jobs.
When he had free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and mostly spending time with his family. Frank loved sports of all kinds but mostly he was an avid Miami Dolphin fan!
Frank was preceded in death by his father, mother, father-in-law and mother-in-law (Homer and Betty Vaughan), numerous aunts and uncles. Frank is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy (Vaughan), children Tiffani Watson (Billy) of Wimauma, Florida, Krista Nelson (Kyle) of Zephyrhills, and Erika Boone of Port Charlotte, Florida, and Frank “Robbie” Whidden Jr. of Lee County from a previous marriage. Frank was lovingly known as “papa” to 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Frank is also survived by his sister Elizabeth “Liz” Tancer (Joe) and brother David Whidden (Kelly) of Charlotte County.
Frank was a loving, kind and generous person always willing to help anyone he could. Frank shared the love of his Chihuahuas with his wife. Frank was a true fighter and loved his Lord and Savior. There are no services scheduled at this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Tidewell Hospice.
