

Gail Johnston, 70, of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away on Monday, February 28, 2011. He was born April 25, 1940 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. He served in the US Army from 1960 to 1962 as an MP. He worked for over 20 years for Northern Supply Co. before becoming part owner of Maxi Muffler, which serviced the State of Michigan. He retired to Punta Gorda in 2005. Gail was an avid golfer and along with his siblings, organized the annual JJJ Golf Memorial in honor of their father John J. Johnston. Soon after joining the St. Andrews South Golf Club he became a Board Member and Chairman of the Golf Committee.
Gail is survived by his wife Linda (affectionately known as Pepi), his son Dennis (Sara), two grandchildren, Jack and Max, two step-daughters, Beth and Christie, brother, John (Sandy), sister-in-law, Brenda Johnston, brother, Mark (Marge), sister, Patty Ann (Jim) Schafer, brother, Steve (Judy), mother-in-law, Jerry Cirinesi and many friends throughout Michigan and Florida. He is preceded in death by his father John, his mother Lolabel and brother Bruce.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday March 5, 2011 at 1:00 PM with visitation prior to the funeral from 12 noon till 1:00 pm, at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to One Breath at a Time, Inc., 3014 N Armenia Avenue, Suite 5, Tampa, FL 33607.
