Uncle Harold was the most active, involved senior citizen ever.  If he wanted to learn anything, he just did it instead of wishing he could learn.  He will definitely be missed by his nieces and nephews.  Uncle Hal was a part of our lives.

Hal was a delight to know and to play music with. He will be missed.

Hal was a treasured member of Silver Strings dulcimer society and a personal friend. I looked forward to seeing him at the club meetings all summer, and missed him when he went to Florida each year. We camped together two or three times a summer for at least 15 years.  He was a delight to have around.After my husband passed away he took it upon himself to make sure I was alright when we were camping. Not overbearing, but kind. A chair when I needed one, a bottle of water, an inquiry about health.  He shared his time, his expertise, his music, and every morning his newspaper..We shared meals, a common campsite, went garage saling  at least once a summer. He loved looking for "deals" and he often found them. He always had time to spend talking to old friends, and chatting with new ones. Even at his age he was willing to help a new club member get acquainted, and a new camper get set up. He had a delightfully wry sense of humor . It is going to be very different going to club meetings and not seeing him, and making arrangements for camping and not including him. I am going to miss him.

We were friends of Hal's thru his music. I can't remember exactly when we met but it was so long ago that his hair was a natural black. 
He was a fine man, a gentle man. We shared some real fun times.  He was someone we always looked for at the festivals as he was sure to be there.  He was good friends with our dog Maggie, always took time for her. At one festival I had created a dummy doll of pillows and a wig stand, named her Madeline. I must tell you he had a big laugh when he found Madeline in his bed one evening!
He could hardly wait to show us his little teardrop camper. We marveled at his resilence and always enjoyed his good mood.  
He is going to be sorely missed by many.

Hal was always a delight at club meetings and music festivals.  I was astonished to learn his age several years ago...  He camped and set up and hiked around at the music festivals like a man 30 years or more! younger.  Many people will miss him, and many feel a debt of gratitude to him for all he has done to make music accessible to so many.  In helping found two successful dulcimer clubs, Hal left a lasting mark on musicians and listeners! in two states. Uncle Harold will be missed by our whole family.  It was a pleasure listening to all of his friends from the dulcimer society talk about him and his musical talents. What a wonderful 91 years he had on this earth.
