Hwesu Levi Hutchinson, a true son of Flatbush, he leaves behind a profound legacy of love, community, and cultural impact. Born on Lenox Road, his Brooklyn roots ran deep, and the mark he made on the neighborhood he cherished will resonate for generations.
He grew up surrounded by family and friends who adored him, carrying that same deep love into every chapter of his life. As a son, he was thoughtful, dependable, and always ready with a helping hand or a warm smile. As a father of five, he encouraged his children to dream boldly, guiding them with patience, humor, and gentle wisdom. As a husband to his childhood sweetheart, he was a steadfast partner — supportive, empowering, dedicated, and endlessly loving.
He had a gift for making people feel seen and valued. Whether through a simple conversation, a shared laugh, or a quiet moment of encouragement, he left an imprint on every life he touched. His presence brought comfort; his absence leaves a space that can never be filled.
From his earliest days on Lenox Road, it was clear he was destined for greatness. He carried a rare, magnetic energy and an ambitious drive that propelled him to extraordinary achievements at a young age. He didn’t just witness Brooklyn’s culture — he helped shape it.
His sharp ear for talent and visionary hustle led to a legendary moment in New York hip-hop history: bringing a rising Kanye West to Brooklyn to perform at the iconic Club Rock. It was a testament to his influence, his deep community ties, and his ability to bridge the streets of Flatbush with the highest levels of the music world. He was a connector, a leader, and a pillar of his community — moving always with respect, passion, and purpose.
Though he is no longer with us in body, his memory lives on. It echoes in the music he loved, in the countless lives he uplifted, and shines brightly through his wife and five children. He lived fully, achieved greatly, and left an undeniable mark on the world.

A visitation for Hwesu will be held in Florida on Friday, August 14th, from 5:00–6:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM.
