Jack R. Smith, 77, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away September 2, 2007. He was born February 4, 1930 in Cairo, IL to Rommie and Lois Smith. He moved to Punta Gorda with his wife Shirley in 1988 from Glen Ellyn, IL. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the US Army. Before retiring, Mr. Smith worked for 30 years as a Marketing Rep for Conoco Phillips, Hinsdale, IL office. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing and was a huge Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Howe Smith of Punta Gorda, FL; son, Gregory Smith and his wife Lisa of Naperville, IL and daughter, Kim Cawley and her husband Paul of Carmel, IN; 4 grandchildren, Joseph and Jack Cawley and Katy and Brittany Smith.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, Sept 5, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church, 507 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda. The family has requested memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice.
