He was born on December 24, 1921 in Bridgeport, Connecticut and came to this area from Trumbull, Connecticut in 1990. James was an insurance salesman for Northwestern Life Insurance Company, and retiring in 1997 after 45 years of service. He was a veteran of WW-II, US Army, with the rank of major, serving in the European Theatre in the Occupation of Germany. He was a graduate of Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts. He loved playing golf and bridge. James was chairman of the Republican Town Committee in Trumbull, Connecticut in the sixties and a member of the Port Charlotte Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Frances of Punta Gorda, Florida; his daughter, Sally Kathryn Church of Cambridge, England; his grandchildren, Jeanette and Katie Langford both of Cambridge, England
Memorial services Monday, August 3, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home 2405 Harbor Blvd. Port Charlotte, Florida. Inurnment will be in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield, Connecticut.
