Jane Mansfield, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away March 8, 2010. She was born and raised in New Rochelle, NY and was married in 1956. Over the years, she and her husband Skip lived in Rye, NY, Miami, FL and Punta Gorda. Jane's accomplishments centered around children, art and decorating. She taught at the Episcopal Christ Church in Rye, NY. In Miami, she taught at Riverside Day Care and was Principal of Sunset Day School. She was also a teacher and dean of students at the Sacred Heart School for Girls in Miami. Locally, she worked at the Charlotte County Historical Society museum where upon retiring, she was asked to serve on the board. She was a current and active board member. Jane specialized in decorating for non-profits and loved the challenge of decorating at a minimal expense for the non-profit concerned. Her garage is a treasure trove of free materials for these endeavors. She particularly enjoyed decorating for the YMCA with her wonderful team of volunteers who were equally dedicated. There was not a party or a parade she did not enjoy, since she loved being with people. This led her to being on the entertainment and decorating committees of the Isles Yacht Club and she was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the ladies fund raising committee named the Islettes. Many people from various walks of life will miss Jane, most particularly her immediate family.
She is survived by her husband A. Rulon "Skip" Mansfield; three daughters and their spouses, Heather & Gary Wilson; Bridget & Tom Schumacher and Deidra & Ed Taylor, along with eight grandchildren; Sean, Tai, Jesse, Kierra, Daylon, Eric, Claire and Samantha.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Monday March 15, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda.
