It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Novicky of Port Charlotte, Florida announces her passing on June 21, 2022 at her home after a brief, but valiant battle with breast cancer. She was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Leo Novicky.
She was born on January 4, 1939 to Sidney & Beatrice Loftus of Norwalk, CT., where she grew up before moving to Danbury, CT.
She was a nurse’s aide, home health caregiver for the elderly, but her greatest “job” was raising her own eight children and the children of other’s. Her extended “children” kept in touch with her throughout her life. She was their “mom” and “Grandma Jean”.
There was not a thing she could not do and she was up to every challenge. She was known as “Mrs. MacGvyer”, and she was a perfectionist at everything she did, big & small. Her talents were many; if you needed to know how to sew, knit, crochet, bake, cook, restore furniture, decorate, paint, hang wallpaper, tile, you name it, she could tell you how to do it!!
She loved and cared for her family more than anything. She is survived by her children, daughters Donna Kearns-Carroll (John), Suzanne Kearns, Lisa Kearns-Adams (Lloyd), Kenneth Kearns (Diana), Michael Kearns and Jennifer Kearns, her (9) grandchildren, Matthew, Meghan, Daniel, Jeffrey, Stefanie, Christopher, Zachary, Katrena & Nicholas, (8) great grandchildren, her two sisters, Lois Howell & Diane Kolok, her “fur babies” along with numerous extended family & friends.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her two daughters, Robin Kearns and Terry Kearns-Falls, her sister, Shirley Merritt and brothers, Robert Loftus, Donald Loftus and Sydney (Jr) Loftus.
At her request, there will be no services and her final resting place will be with her beloved husband and two daughters at a private burial at the convenience of the family.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.kayspongerpc.com for the Novicky family.
