

John F. Conboy Sr. "Jack" 90, of Charlotte Harbor passed away Wednesday April 24, 2013. Jack was born February 22, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA. He worked for the Budd Company in Philadelphia where he retired as a Purchasing Manager after 41 years of dedicated service, after relocating to Florida he worked part time for 10 years for Deep Creek Golf Club, a job that fulfilled his dreams of getting paid for being on a golf course. He was an avid jazz enthusiast and one of the founding members of the Charlotte County Jazz Society in Port Charlotte; from February 1993 to February 1996 he served as President of Roll's Landing Condominium Association where he and his wife resided since 1989. Jack served proudly in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. He was imprisoned in a POW camp in Germany for the final year of the war after being shot down from a B-24 Liberator Bomber. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Doris M. Conboy, 3 children Christine, John JR., and Brian. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A memorial service with Military Honors will be presented on Friday May 3, 2013 at 2:30PM from the Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota Fl.
