Joseph E. Schaefer

Joseph (Joe) Schaefer passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2012. Born on April 7, 1931 to Joseph and Marguerite Schaefer (née O'Connor) in the Bronx, New York, he was a long time resident of Oceanside, New York and moved to Punta Gorda in the late 1990s. Joe was the beloved husband of Evelyn (née Dunne) for 59 years, and the loving father of Evelyn Dasaro (Anthony), Marguerite Florio (Nicholas), Debra Fennessey (Kevin), Tracy Calder (Joseph), Joseph Schaefer III (Samantha), Allison Strack (John), Christopher Schaefer (Marcia), and Jennifer Braccia (Lawrence); adored grandfather of 18 and great grandfather of 2. He is also survived by his sisters, Marguerite Balistreri and Mary Ann Crowder, and numerous nieces and nephews. A longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, Joe was the consummate family man and loved nothing more than laughing with his children and grandchildren, all of whom will sorely miss him.
