

Juanita (Nita) Verna Rose-Stevens (95), of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 10, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Citta Gillespie; sisters, Hazel Blair, Ruth Jones, and Betty Cooney; and brother, James (Dick) Gillespie.
Nita was born in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, on September 4, 1929, then moved to Ohio, where she lived most of her life. She was a woman of many talents and passions and always approached life with a smile and a positive attitude.
Nita retired from retail sales, working in various areas, which included modeling, where her natural beauty and poise shone through. Later, she worked as an Optician, excelling at connecting with people and providing exceptional customer service.
Nita was a loving mother and a constant source of support and encouragement to all who knew her. She adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them, sharing stories, playing games, and imparting her wisdom. She was a constant presence in their lives, offering unconditional love and encouragement.
Nita moved to Florida eight years ago, where she lived with her daughter. She embraced the sunshine and laid-back lifestyle, quickly making new friends and becoming a familiar community member. She will be remembered for her infectious smile, kind heart, unwavering optimism, and playful humor. She had a way of making everyone around her feel unique and loved. She leaves a legacy of love, compassion, and strength that will continue inspiring those who know her.
Juanita is survived by her children, Connie Waymire (Charlie) and Cindy Fry (Don); grandchildren, Candice Eldridge (Rick), Cherri Curtis, Mandilynne, and Brandon Fry; great-grandchildren Josh Craft (Alivia), Nathan Curtis, Sydney and Cassidy Eldridge, Audriana and Wyatt Fry, and her great-great grandchild, Avrianna Craft, including a host of friends and loved ones. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of life for Juanita will be held in Ohio. Details will be announced at a later date.
