Julia Roughton Allen

Julia A. Roughton Allen (Bunnell), 86, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family on June 8, 2018. She was born July 17, 1931 to Lee and Nellie Bunnell (Comer) in Columbus, OH. She graduated high school in Ohio in 1948 and moved to Florida in the early 1960s. Julia was a dedicated wife, homemaker and mother. She spent her life lovingly raising her six children and caring for many of the community's children as well. Julia enjoyed reading, music, traveling with her late husband Lee and spending time at their mountain home in Franklin, NC. She will be remembered for her quick wit, feisty spirit, stubborn determination, and of course her love of all things sweet. She will be greatly missed beyond words.

Julia is survived by her children, David (Carol) Souders of Adairsville, GA; Nancy (Dave) Heder of Punta Gorda; Christy (Bruce) Buzzell of Punta Gorda; Jeff (Fay) Roughton of Punta Gorda; Dennis (Julie) Roughton of Punta Gorda; Jay (Lisa) Roughton of North Port. Grandchildren, David (Nicole) Souders; Todd (Josie) Souders; Stephen (Jackie) Souders; Chase Brayton; Chad Roughton; Sami (Justin) Pickens; Mandi Roughton; Kristen Roughton; Jordan Roughton; Alexa Roughton; Logan Roughton; Olivia Roughton; Carson Roughton; 8 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by Sam Roughton, loving husband of 20 years; Thomas Lee Allen, loving husband of 21 years; her parents and brother, Dean Bunnell of Tampa.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Pilgrim United Church, 24515 Rampart Blvd, Punta Gorda. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Tidewell Hospice.
