Ken Daly, 86, of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Charlotte, N.C., passed away Saturday, July 4, 2009, at his daughter's home. He was born Dec. 1, 1922, in Union City, N.J., the son of Philip and Isabelle Knorr Daly. Ken was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II; Fire Chief and a member of Ramtown VFD in Howell, N.J.; and a member of the Marine Corps League Detachment 756 in Charlotte County, Fla., Charlotte County Elks Lodge 2153, and American Legion Post 119. He retired as an engineer with Bendix Corporation Aerospace Division after 45 years of service.
Ken is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Ann Fred Daly Taft of Charlotte, N.C., Phyllis-Jeanne Bowman of Kinston, N.C.; sons, Charles K. Daly of Howell, Bryan Daly of New Orleans, La.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Syms Chambellan Daly; second wife, Florance Viola Daly; and parents, Philip and Isabelle Knorr Daly.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens.
