He was born on December 13, 1922 in Thetford, Vermont, he was a long time resident of Deep Creek in Punta Gorda, Florida. Mr. Cook graduated from Dartmouth College in 1943, while his twin brother Kenneth Cook 1922 – 1961 served in France. Kermit assisted the war effort by running the family farm. After the war he entered the field of education, first as a history teacher and then as a principal, he became superintendent at Mahar, Regional High School in Orange, Massachusetts for 20 years, a record for the state of Massachusetts. Mr. Cook was invited to evaluate the Marshall Plan as a member of the Boston College school group. Kermit and his wife Philomena C. Cook spent their retirement traveling the world and seeing the sights.
Mr. Cook leaves his daughters, Judith McDaniel and Nancy Shumway.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Friday, November 21, 2008 from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at Kays-Ponger and Uselton Funeral Home 2405 Harbor Blvd. Port Charlotte, Florida.
